September 2021 is Transit Month

Transit Month: Oakland Ride & Rally Challenge

September is Transit Month for the Bay Area. This month will have various events celebrating the vital role of public transit for our communities, thanking operators and employees for their tireless work, encouraging more use of transit by all, and supporting the restoration and further development of transit systems.

Transit Month will have two main components in the East Bay, and we invite you to participate in both.

Transit Rally in Downtown Oakland

First, please RSVP and save the date for 9am, Friday, Sept. 10th for our in-person East Bay Transit Rally in Latham Square, right by 12th St / Oakland BART Station, on Broadway between 15th and 16th St. (Masks required.) This rally is co-hosted with Seamless Bay Area, Genesis and SPUR Oakland.

We’ll be hearing from riders, advocates and elected officials about the importance of service restoration and transit priority.

Ride Challenge

Second, there will be a Bay-wide contest for who can use transit the most during the month of September. There will be prizes in various categories, including for East Bay winners. Please sign up at the SF Transit Riders site to keep receiving information on the contest including the tracker website when it’s ready. There will be other SF events which you can access at the SFTR site.
